Dr. Tyler B. Magill, an Orthodontic Resident at the University of Florida College of Dentistry, has received a $3,000 UFCD Student Seed Grant for his project on developing an AI-driven interceptive orthodontic diagnostic and treatment planning system using natural language processing. Under the mentorship of Drs. Jay Patel and Karanth, the project applies NLP and machine learning to nearly two decades of electronic health records to create a Clinical Decision Support Tool for data-driven Phase I orthodontic care, aiming to optimize timing of early interventions and improve outcomes for young patients.
